Accomodations

The Bell Tower Hotel. The Campus Inn Hotel.

Our blocks or rooms have expired, but you may still be able book rooms at these hotels as regular rates.

Areas

Central Campus
The Central Campus of the University of Michigan is one of two major focal points of the city. The meeting venue is on Central Campus and the two hotels in this area are either literally on campus or a block from campus. There are numerous restaurants, both student oriented and more formal, as well as lots of coffee shops, bookstores and the usual college student fare.
Main Street
Main Street Ann Arbor is the second major focal point of the city. Main Street has many nice restaurants and boutique shopping options. This is the "townie" center as opposed to the "student" center of Ann Arbor. This area is easy walking distance to and from the meeting location.
Briarwood Mall Area
In order to have enough rooms and to also offer a lower price option, we have reserved some rooms out of the city center. The location is right off the freeway and is home to 10-15 different hotels as well as Ann Arbor's shopping mall. While the area does not have a nice, small town walking area, it is safe and it does have a range of nice restaurants and also the food court at the mall. Ann Arbor Transit Authority (AATA) bus #36 stops very close to the hotel we have chosen and goes directly to the Michigan Union, where the meeting is located. Travel time by bus is 15 minutes, with buses leaving every 10-15 minutes in both directions throughout the day. Visit our Transportation page for more information. If you will drive a car to the meeting, read about parking options on the Venue and Parking page.

Hotel Information

Options and getting a "Government Rate"
We have tried to offer hotel rooms that are both very close to the venue (more expensive) as well as a lower price option. See the chart below for a comparison of the various options. We have called the various hotels to ask about a "Government Rate." None of the hotels would allow us to negotiate a block rate that matched the government rate for Ann Arbor. However, we were told by the Courtyard by Marriott that if you call them and/or show them a government id they could adjust the rate to the government rate. The other hotels are less clear, but a phone call might get you a governement rate.

Campus Inn
The Campus Inn is a nice hotel that our department has used frequently for out of town visitors. It is located about one block off of central campus. The hotel recently changed owners and will undergo renovations from 1 December 2015 - 15 April 2016. They plan to have renovations done in time for spring graduation (April 30). We feel confident that the hotel will be ready in time for our meeting and we will be calling periodically to make sure that the renovations will be done in time. Because of the ownership change, reservations can only be made by phone.
